Senior Center Spotlight

The Philadelphia Senior Center
The Main Branch
offers a wide range of services, including meals, recreation, transportation, education, counseling, financial management assistance, in-home support, volunteer programs, computer training and referral resources. This branch serves approximately 200 seniors per day, most of whom frequent the Recovery Act-Funded GreenBean Internet Cafe, an eco-friendly dining experience with Wi-Fi access enabling seniors to surf the web as they congregate for meals and social activities.

The Tioga Branch offers 20 different classes weekly including Wii Bowling, line dancing, sewing, pottery, exercise, crafts and a bowling club. Health programs include Silver Sneakers Exercise Classes, podiatrist visits, wellness lectures and screenings. Tioga Branch also offers day and overnight trips escorted by staff.

The Coffee Cup Branch provides a place for seniors to have a hot meal and take-home snack, as well as opportunities for recreation and other supportive services. It's located near three senior housing complexes, and is convenient to Chinatown and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
